IT IS NUMBER TEN. AND I SHALL CALL IT “TEN.” No, that’s a terrible name. Ermmmm how about I just pick a lyric from the song? Okay… uh, “Let Me Know.” That’s fine. That will do.
Let Me Know
(C) 2007 Matthew C Good
Do you remember
how I felt?
Dear, I forgot.
Was I a little
washed up,
or was I a lot?
Did it look like
I was distressed?
I don’t recall
Did it look like
I had all the time
or had none at all?
Won’t you please let me know, let me in?
Darlin.
Where do we start, where do we end?
baby.
How do you know what it’s like
if you can’t remember a thing?
How do you know it happened?
How do you look in the mirror
if you don’t remember your face?
how do you know its you then?
How is that time is unkind?
an inevitable decline
how does it know to hurt you?
Why do you stand in the rain
as if it will wash away
the scars it put there in the first place.

Yeah, put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Had some trouble with the lyrics on this one. It was like 11:00. I was about halfway done with the lyrics… And I still had no idea what the heck this song was supposed to be about. Form is also sorta wierd. Might need to tweak it if I do a “real” version someday. Comment… Let me know if this is cool or not.

This is cool, yes. Nice vokes!
i like this song. i think that musically it has a lot of potential. and i like the hook “let me know”. i get a few different feels to it. first off it reminds me of Pedro the Lion from the Winners Never Quit era. At the end though it reminds me a little bit of There There from Hail to the Thief. So it’s got a cool vibe to it but i think that lyrically it should be a little less vague. i read over the lyrics and didn’t care at all what you were saying..and you kinda gave the impression that it wasn’t that important anyway. so i say give it a good story about someone needing to know things. because you know things but this guy…he doesn’t know things.
musically i’d add a more arppegiated guitar part to the verses instead of the acoustic. and then during the choruses switch to something like a half-time feel because i think that chord changes would work really well with more of a slower pounding chorus than a continuous driving feel. i’d also make the distorted guitar a little more rhythmic at around 2:17 in the song. and the chorus on that part…go nuts with that guitar. gotta rip it jonny greenwood/nels kline style. no holding back.
so yeah…i want to play on this one too.
I like this one too
At first I didn’t like this song. Now I like the chorus and the second verse, and then ending. I’d extend the chorus riff instrumentally at the very end rather than ending it with the vocals. I like how it drops to an acoustic on the second verse and builds from there, but I agree with John a little and think the first verse should change.
I got a great idea though. Make this song like a disco Beck, like “Hell Yeah” or something with lots of synths and such. That would be too tight. Half would be cool some too, like John said.
I also agree with John on the lyrics. They could be better. The second line of the chorus kind of blows too. Feels like I’ve heard it before.
